Message from Congressman Edgar Chatto:

We, in the Committee on Tourism of the House of Representatives, commend the organizers of the 3rd International Tourism and Trade Expo 2008, with the theme "Go Wellness," for zealously promoting the medical, health and wellness industry in our country.

The Philippines' competitive advantage in this field rests on several factors: the presence of highly skilled, English-speaking doctors, nurses and health care workers; the relatively cheaper medical costs; and the country's abundant and diverse tourist attractions, which when properly packaged and developed can really help improve the country's economy.

The Committee on Tourism, which I chair, has been continuously working to pass meaningful legislation that will help entice tourists to visit our country, raise revenues and employment opportunities, drive entrepreneurial activities and raise national pride.  Admittedly, however, we can only achieve these through your unrelenting cooperation and commitment.

We wish you success in the holding of this event. Count us as your partner in creating a tourism industry that is truly a driver of investments, employment, growth and national development.
